getting pinterested

leave a comment »

I’m only new to the pintersphere but I must say I find myself getting more and more pinterested… verging on pinter-obsessed. If you have not yet been enthralled into the world of pinning, this is Pinterest.

I have been desperately wanting to create a mood board for some time now but have not yet been able to steal myself away an afternoon with my magazines, collected catalogue snippings, postcards and other assorted bits and pieces. And although I see mood boarding as distinctly different to Pinterest, it does allow me to effortlessly capture treasured images that focus and delight my interest… almost like a rough cut of inspiration for a mood board. And even better, it saves the source link automatically, so I can retrace my steps to lead me back to my most beloved snaps.

If you would like to tune into my daily inspirations and captioned musings I would be so flattered if you followed me on Pinterest. If you would like an invite, just comment below.

A brief selection of my favourite captured images from my pin boards…

I’m a bit preoccupied with turquoise at the moment, so it was very tempting to select only turquoise themed images here…

xx

festive

Baking festive treats, filling my home with the most mouth-watering aromas, and sending cards to the people dearest to me makes this time of year so enjoyable.

Although I didn’t get time this year, I’m looking forward to bringing a real pine tree home next year and decorating it with all the trimmings.

Christmas is all about the traditions.

Apologies for my extended silence, of late. Our lovely new apartment is still in its’ infancy and it has left me without the compelling urge to jot down my musings. But after a whirlwind 24 hours in the nearby bustling and culturally vibrant hub of Melbourne, VIC, my passion for pretty accents and soft touches has been rekindled. And despite being utterly spent on the journey home I now find myself wide-eyed and abuzz with energy.

I’ve been flirting with the idea of adding bold block colours to our home, as I love the look of clean lines and crisp bright monochrome that is often captured in freshome.com‘s apartment and house tours. However, my familiarity with the pale, the stone and the taupe and penchant for a simple aesthetic has blocked me from stepping into the world of pop colour.

I’ve been taking inspiration to create a perfect little spot to sit, read, and take everything in…

And many more in this post by Freshome here.

I’m looking forward to creating a lovely little window seat in my new home that overlooks wild, native scrubland. I’ll be moving in soon. Can’t wait to set it up and show it off.

Feeling so inspired by all the vibrant colours on display at this years Floriade festival. Every year, the main parkland area in Canberra’s central business district is overrun with sprawling garden beds, propagated with masses of brightly coloured tulips and other floral varieties. Dawdling through the maze of flowers makes for an invigorating afternoon.

And is the perfect excuse to leave work early!

countryside in the city

The only thing preventing you from being fooled you are in the English countryside is the plethora of wattle bushes (Australia’s national bloom) that line the streets. Which is quite fitting, being that this is the nation’s capital.

I may not be much of a photographer but I wanted to share some scenes that sparked my imagination today as I got lost and lost myself in this unknown town…

Golden hues challenge the bold Australian sky,

Muted greys of deciduous trees stand alongside soft pinks and creamy whites of blossoming shrubs.

Big pines, dotted with wattle bushes, line the side streets.

Will be sure to write when I use these snaps as inspiration for a project!

troving in a new city

This weekend I embark on the hunt for a new address… and I absolutely cannot wait. This is the first step in creating a space that is true to my style, displays my troven wares and motivates me to continue noting down it all down here.

I have hired a car for the day and am looking forward to getting off the beaten track. So as I find my way around this new town, I shall introduce myself properly and get to know her a bit better.

Just a small word to say thank you to all the twitter love I’ve been feeling since I joined earlier this week. It was totally unexpected but I’m so thrilled to be involved in a community of like-minded individuals that share my passion to impart knowledge and support others.

Can’t wait to dedicate some posts to the inspiration and advice I’ve gained from some lovely bloggers via Twitter this week!
