Feeling so inspired by all the vibrant colours on display at this years Floriade festival. Every year, the main parkland area in Canberra’s central business district is overrun with sprawling garden beds, propagated with masses of brightly coloured tulips and other floral varieties. Dawdling through the maze of flowers makes for an invigorating afternoon.

And is the perfect excuse to leave work early!

countryside in the city

The only thing preventing you from being fooled you are in the English countryside is the plethora of wattle bushes (Australia’s national bloom) that line the streets. Which is quite fitting, being that this is the nation’s capital.

I may not be much of a photographer but I wanted to share some scenes that sparked my imagination today as I got lost and lost myself in this unknown town…

Golden hues challenge the bold Australian sky,

Muted greys of deciduous trees stand alongside soft pinks and creamy whites of blossoming shrubs.

Big pines, dotted with wattle bushes, line the side streets.

Will be sure to write when I use these snaps as inspiration for a project!
